Agknowledge Africa
By: Leland
I recently came across a fantastic event coming up in East Africa – Agknowledge Africa, a sort of fair focusing on how agricultural knowledge is transmitted in Africa. Check out the post and attend if you can! Given its location, I think our Kenya community members will find it particularly useful, and much easier to get to than us US-based folks.

Launch of Nairobi’s Innovation Hub
By: Tony Barclay
I was lucky to attend an exciting event in Nairobi on March 3rd, when the *iHub was formally launched, with more than 120 people packed into its welcoming workspace. Located on Ngong Road, one of the principal arteries on Nairobi’s southwest side, the *iHub provides physical space and a dynamic environment for technologists, startup tech companies, investors and hackers – everyone who’s at the leading edge of Kenya’s fast-growing ICT community.
The vast majority of the evening’s guests were young Kenyans who see the potential for new technologies to accelerate growth in the economy, expand citizens’ access to information, and speed the transition from a divisive politics based on ethnicity to one that’s based on shared values and “One Kenya”. Many in this group are natural allies and partners for what the Forum aims to do with its Kenya Chapter.

Forum Founder Visits Kenya
By: Tony Barclay
Tony Barclay, the Forum’s founder, returned to Nairobi in early March to explore how the proposed Kenya Country Chapter could serve the country’s large and diverse practitioner community, and how it would interact with our global membership. Tony’s involvement in Kenya started with his Peace Corps service in 1968.
Starting with a visit last December by Bob Bouvier (Country Programs Manager) and Nathan Kennedy, we’ve been asking Kenyan development practitioners for their views about the country’s development challenges, and ideas on how to share knowledge and best practices among people working on the front lines.
